Practice 02 · ERP and Application Modernisation

Modernise the Core Without Losing Control of It.

ERP modernisation strategy, legacy and custom-code modernisation, extension rationalisation and cloud transition, across ERP platforms and the applications around them. Clean core and decoupled extensions by default, so the upgrade path stays open.

What we deliver

Modernisation in Steps That Can Be Verified.

For enterprises that cannot afford a second go-live: every change has a contract before code and a read-back check after it runs.

01

ERP Modernisation Strategy

Greenfield, conversion or selective transition, chosen against your landscape, data and calendar rather than a template.

Deliverablesoptions analysis, target architecture, transition plan, business case inputs.

02

Custom-Code and Extension Rationalisation

Every modification inventoried: retire it, replace it with standard, or move it to a decoupled extension. The core stays upgradeable.

Deliverablesextension register, disposition per object, remediation backlog.

03

Upgrade-Risk Assessment

What breaks when the core changes: custom objects, interfaces, reports and data, ranked by impact.

Deliverablesrisk register by object and interface, test scope, remediation estimate.

04

Legacy Modernisation and Decomposition

Monoliths broken along business capabilities and replaced in stages, with data migrated and reconciled at each one.

Deliverablescapability map, decomposition plan, migration waves, reconciliation reports.

05

Cloud Transition

The hosting or subscription model, the landing zone, cutover and hypercare, with a named engagement lead who stays through run.

Deliverablestransition architecture, cutover plan, hypercare runbook.

06

Depth Where Money Moves

Projects and portfolio management, tools and equipment, procure to pay, order to cash, inventory and finance, by people who have run these processes live.

Deliverablesprocess design, configuration rationale, test evidence.

03

When this matters

When the Core Has Become the Constraint.

  • End of support or end of maintenance is approaching

  • A heavily customised core makes every upgrade a project

  • Several ERP instances after mergers or regional roll-outs

  • An upgrade has stalled or failed

  • A legacy application still carries a critical process

  • A move to a cloud subscription is on the table

Checklist

The Clean Core Integration Checklist.

24 questions to ask before your next ERP integration or extension project: contract, error handling, read-back, transport, ownership.

Questions

Which ERP platforms do you work with?

We are vendor-neutral. We design for the platform you run or the one you choose, and our recommendations are not tied to any vendor.

Do you work on cloud subscriptions, or only on-premise?

All of them: public cloud, private cloud, managed cloud subscriptions and on-premise. Clean core is our default on every one, because it keeps the upgrade path open.

What does clean core mean in practice?

Standard where standard fits, extensions decoupled from the core through published interfaces, and a register of every modification with its owner and its reason.

Do you use AI in modernisation work?

For repeatable objects: mapping specifications, scaffolds, tests and runbooks. Every artefact is reviewed by an architect before it reaches your landscape, and no transport or production change is ever left to a model.
